Supporting drink and drug drive offenders

Working with the Warwickshire Strategic Drug and Alcohol Partnership, Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership commissioned the Business Intelligence Team at Warwickshire County Council to conduct a needs assessment to better understand current support and educational provision that is available to people in Warwickshire who have committed a drink or drug driving offence or are at risk of committing these offences. Thorough process mapping, across all of the key stages that a drink or driver would pass through, has enabled gaps to be identified.

This joint work between the Police, health providers and road safety teams has uncovered recommendations including better targeting of education and prevention work, commissioning further more intensive drink and drug driving courses, conducting ongoing consultation with service users via service providers, improving communications channels between support provisions and enforcement agencies and conducting further research and analysis.
