Digitising Greenlight: A new delivery approach to 16-18 road safety education in Shropshire
For over 10 years West Mercia Police Road Safety Team has delivered the successful Greenlight young driver and passenger education programme to 16–18-year-old sixth form and college students across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
The intervention focuses on four young people’s perspectives on a collision they are all involved in and the potential choices that could have been made to prevent it. Practitioners use behaviour change techniques to provide students with essential safety skills to use when starting to drive or ride or when travelling as a passenger with friends who have passed their test.
Following the implementation of a new approach to road safety education in Shropshire, Anna and James will discuss the programme and the collaborative work undertaken to bring Greenlight to Shropshire in an accessible and cost-effective format.
