It highlights how regulation and oversight in traditional retail and trade show environments have built strong consumer confidence, while online marketplaces continue to provide a safe haven for sellers of proven unsafe products. The session will conclude with a proposal to tackle this growing challenge.

Paul Varnsverry is an independent consultant in Personal Protective Equipment, specialising in motorcyclists’ clothing. Since 1991, he has served on British and European Standards committees, shaping the technical requirements for rider safety.

He contributes a weekly column to Motorcycle News, advises police forces on protective clothing options, and in his spare time takes on online vendors of unsafe riding gear. A lifelong motorcyclist, he currently rides a Triumph Tiger Sport 1050.
