Brett Callaghan, Regional Lead, DocBike
Brett Callaghan got involved with DocBike in 2023 after attending a BikerDown session run by DocBike Dorset. After meeting Dr Ian Mew at the event he decided to start up a new region, DocBike Somerset & Avon.
After passing his Advanced Motorcycle test in 1981, and during his time with the British Army, Brett was involved in setting up motorcycle training programs for service personnel in Cyprus where bike accidents were frequent and often involved serious injuries at best.
He then continued this in the UK on his return, eventually qualifying as and ADI and Motorcycle Examiner. Regular European motorcycle trips and involvement with a variety of bike groups and clubs means Brett has a boots on the ground approach to helping our motorcyclists become more skilful riders, an important part of DocBike’s work in bridging that gap between the theory of improving motorcycle skills and talking to motorcyclists about how to go about it.
