This presentation will provide a focused overview of the Fire and Rescue Service's commitment to reducing road casualties, underpinned by our comprehensive road safety position statement.. We'll articulate our vision for safer roads, detailing the position statement's core principles: a multi-agency approach, proactive advocacy for GDL, prevention through education, engineering solutions, and robust enforcement, alongside effective post-collision response.
We’ll also cover our future direction, addressing emerging road safety challenges and highlighting our adaptive strategies. This presentation seeks to reinforce the NFCC's critical role as a proactive and influential partner in driving national road safety improvements.
Leanne McMahon, NFCC Road Safety Deputy Lead
Leanne McMahon started her career with Kent Fire & Rescue Service in 1995. Throughout her career she has held roles in the emergency control room, responding to incidents, in prevention and protection. Throughout Leanne’s career she has worked to develop strong collaborative partnerships and has seen the benefits a unified approach can deliver.
Leanne is National Fire Chief Council’s Deputy Road Rescue and Road Safety Lead. Her commitment extends beyond traditional fire safety. Leanne’s lived experiences in road safety prevention, managing incidents on the road and customer care, during and after the incident, have shaped a strong desire to advocate for addressing the multifaceted challenges of road safety.
