Empowering parents to make sure their learner is ready for post test driving

As driving instructors, we do our best to make sure that every learner is equipped to deal with the roads post test. But, not all learners will invest the full amount of time they need to develop safe habits with driving instructors. Ultimately, whose responsibility is it to make sure that new drivers have the full knowledge of the risks they are taking both as passengers and drivers and for the skills they need to stay safe on our roads?

Children are like sponges and will copy their parents attitudes, habits and beliefs in driving. My Learner Driver has been developed for parents, providing an interactive online platform for them to work on their own driving skills and attitudes with a structured guide on how best to support their learners in private practice alongside their driving lessons.

The presentation will also discuss solutions to the data showing how skewed the KSI figures are against young drivers, and how we as road safety specialists can empower parents to drive the change.
