Standardised Mature Driver Assessment Evaluation
Road safety teams are increasingly delivering a range of interventions that aim to support older drivers in maintaining their driving skills.
However, until recently there was no national guidance relating to instructor qualification, scheme content, duration, or effectiveness.
To address this, in 2023 the Older Driver Task Force (ODTF) released a guidance document for those seeking to deliver older driver schemes. As with all such interventions, it is important to evaluate the impact of guidance, and in 2024 external funding was secured to evaluate the ODTF guidance across multiple sites using a range of measures.
This presentation will outline the assessment format and evaluation methodology being used and report on progress to date including the e-based measures which form part of the process.
