Aisin RoadTrace - Pioneering Predictive Road Safety Insights

RoadTrace by Aisin offers innovative, risk-based analysis of road networks, leveraging real driving behaviour data to identify high-risk areas even before crashes occur using connected vehicle data. Since the emergence of connected vehicles in the mass market over the last decade, RoadTrace has been at the forefront of developing new ways to enhance road safety.

Our technology computes, clusters, and priorities millions of raw connected vehicle data points to highlight the most severe Areas for Investigation (AFI) for county/local councils and road operators. This approach has been validated and accepted, demonstrating a strong correlation between harsh braking clusters and real collisions on UK roads.

RoadTrace has been actively developing its business model in the UK, working closely with local authorities, Transport Scotland, National Highways and the Department for Transport. These collaborations ensure that our insights are tailored to meet the specific needs and challenges of those responsible for UK roads, fostering safer roads nationwide.

Innovative Technology: RoadTrace employs advanced AI techniques and existing connected vehicle data to detect unusual and potentially dangerous driving patterns. By analysing repeated instances of harsh braking, we can identify issues related to road deterioration, signage, lining and road geometry or design. This predictive approach enables proactive maintenance and targeted interventions, significantly reducing the risk of collisions.

Aisin's Heritage and Expertise: Aisin, a $30bn company and the fifth largest automotive Tier-1 supplier and a leading mobility company, brings its extensive automotive and geolocation heritage to the RoadTrace solution. With a strong background in driver assistance and in-vehicle safety systems, including Electronic Stability Control, Navigation systems, Driver Monitoring, and Intelligent Speed Assist, Aisin is dedicated to creating connected mobility ecosystems for the future.

Global Recognition: RoadTrace’s technical global white paper has been approved, marking a significant step in our mission to reduce road deaths and prioritise maintenance and asset management for highways authorities and road operators.
