ARTSM is an informed and influential force in the field of Highways and Transport. The Association seeks to benefit Members through its representative role, aiming to influence technological developments and improve standards in traffic engineering and operations.

Members are kept up to date with developments affecting the industry. Through our working groups we consult with Members on European and UK standards and make representations on their behalf to central and local government and standards bodies. ARTSM holds seats on a number of standards committees in the UK and Europe and provides expertise to those committees.

We work collaboratively, maintaining strong links with other trade bodies, public authorities, academia and NGO representatives to ensure consensus with Europe and EU standardisation processes. We provide guidance for industry on relevant issues in our scope of operations and we are founding partners of the Roads & Highways Industry Forum (RHIF). We also partner LCRIG (Local Council Road Innovation Group), Safer Highways, Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), and Driving for Better Business (DfBB). We also hold the Chair for NHSS9.

We offer an alternative dispute resolution process to maintain adherence to standards, which is free for our members, the details of which are found in our Dispute Resolution Policy. In addition we supply updates on legal requirements to members through our working groups and via email.

ARTSM fully supports the road to vision zero and we are proactive in delivering guidance on how to achieve success by correct use of products on the infrastructure.
