Safe speeds on the London bus network

Excess speed incidents on the London bus network have reduced by approximately 30% over the past year. This presentation will cover Transport for London’s work in this area, with safe speeds being a core part of its wider Bus Safety Strategy and ‘Vision Zero’ ambitions to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on its bus network.

TfL will share results and lessons from its ongoing implementation of Intelligent Speed Assistance – mandatory, intervening speed-limiting technology now on over 4,000 buses which helps drivers comply with posted speed limits. The presentation will also cover how TfL works with its delivery partners – London’s eight bus operating companies – to promote safe driving behaviour in relation to speed.
