My purpose to keep living after the death of my daughter

Angela Tyler’s only daughter Emma Louise Young was killed in a road traffic collision on 30 September 2010, at the young age of 23 years.

The sheer devastation of Emma’s passing gave Angela no time to adjust to her leaving so suddenly. Life was unbearable. How they were treated as parents through the long wait of the Inquest with limited support was very difficult, and she felt very alone. The family also didn’t have sufficient funds to pay for her funeral.  This became her WHY to live!  Setting up Emma’s charity to help with financial and emotional support.

Angela also speaks as a bereaved mum with the Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service. Her charity also holds a young driver experience at Hereford College in July each year to promote safer driving for students aged 14-17 years.

Angela Tyler, Charity Manager & Diana Wood, Director & Trustee, ELY Memorial Fund (both)

Angela & DianaAngela Tyler’s life changed overnight and she set up a charity in memory of Emma called the ELY Memorial Fund to help pay for a basic funeral for any family living in Herefordshire which suffers a similar tragic loss of a young person aged between 17-25 years in a road traffic collision.

Diana Wood lives in Herefordshire and became involved with ELY following the loss of her son Tom in a road traffic collision at the age of 19 in June 2014. Now retired, she is often found at ELY events and other road safety events and presentations.
