An overview of the approach to ‘Walked routes to school’ risk assessments

This workshop will provide an overview on the approach to risk assessments and how to go about evaluating risks.

The workshop will cover:

  • The risk assessment process, identifying the hazard and who is at risk
  • Evaluating the risk and deciding on precautions, what is the likelihood of the risk occurring and the potential severity
  • Developing an assessment matrix or template
  • An overview of the latest updates to the Walked Routes to School guidelines which have been introduced to improve consistency and aid clarity
  • The benefits of reviewing historic walked routes assessment decisions, with an example of a historic route review in Dorset
  • An outline of the Walked Routes to School training course delivered by TMS Consultancy, incorporating further detail on risk assessment methodology and its practical application to walked routes

The workshop will also provide an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the subject with fellow practitioners.
