Acusensus are world leaders in distracted driving enforcement solutions, having invented, patented and delivered the world’s first operational solutions.
The company was founded in 2018, with the objective to develop a practical solution that would help to address the menace of drivers who are distracted by their hand-held mobile devices or are not wearing a seatbelt. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, with almost 500 employees globally and multiple year contracts across three continents.
‘Heads Up’ combines AI software with dedicated imaging and processing hardware, allowing authorities to identify and capture violations, 24/7 and in all weather conditions. Operational solutions are now widely used across most of Australia, with further projects taking place across the US and Europe. Dedicated relocatable trailers can be used to deliver driver behaviour change over a wide area, supported by fixed infrastructure locations where required.
Acusensus continues to grow its presence in the UK market and has now delivered hundreds of projects across the entire UK, using a fleet of ‘Heads Up’ relocatable trailers. To date, 23 UK police forces have used the technology and over half of them have actively prosecuted mobile phone and seatbelt offences, proving that the technology is fit for purpose.
The UK’s first long term, fully enforced project has been operational with Vision Zero South West and Devon & Cornwall Police for three years, proving that the solution can be operationally used as part of a road safety strategy. This project has proved itself to be extremely effective, showing both short-term and long-term driver behaviour changes.
Between 2023 and 2025, mobile phone and seatbelt detections have dropped by 80% and at each individual site, detections fall by between 30% and 50% per month, thus proving that a relocatable solution has a huge impact on poor driver behaviours.
